Fundamentally everything one might ask of a "simple" Bourgogne - well delineated, primarily bright, light/mid red fruit flavors, balanced by crisp acidity, and a relatively light (13%) level of alcohol. Of course, what makes this bottle special is that it is 14 years old, and absolutely in its drinking window. The balance is superb, the flavors intense, yet light on the tongue. This wine is not complex, nor is it simple ... except to say it was simply delicious.
Enjoy it now, don't wait; we drank 3 bottles at the Thanksgiving table - it paired well with a wide range of foods, holding its own, and then some.
Rated +1 on a scale of -1 to +3.

Brilliant with mushroom/kale risotto. Relatively robust wine with good acidity, depth, and length. Dark red fruit character with a woodsy and mineral flare; tannins still present and finishes with medium-plus length. Plenty of life here; great value. Try again in three to five years.

St. John's Meeting Place Dinner & Bottle Share: light ruby/prominent sous bois, mushrooms, dried cherries/still with impressive fine grained tannins, sharp acidity, red fruit, minerality/a lovely single vineyard bargain in Burgundy

Really crunchy at the moment, high acid, distinctly 08 profile. My last bottle, not sure when I'd open another if I had it though... 5 more years?
