Noticeably less clenched than my bottle from nearly three years ago, so that the peak, such as it is, may have been around a year ago. This was actually fairly gentle in structure, with autumnal fruits. Not about to fall off a cliff but it's time to drink.

Quick addition to my last note. This bottle seemed weaker and less interesting than the previous one. Quite high acid relative to its fruit, and it just lacks enough intensity. Over I would describe it this time as thin and with little complexity or soft notes to compensate. Think I will leave the last few I have for a while. I doubt it will get much better - doesn’t seem to have the backbone for much more aging, but worth a try....

Pale ruby to garnet in color. Very clean in all respects. Nose is medium (-) in intensity with fresh red fruit of cranberry red cherry and some vegetative notes of tomato leaves. Secondary hint of vanilla and some cigar box and cedar. A hint of earth notes too. Palette is dry and some pretty high acidity at medium (+). Medium tanins and medium (-) alcohol. Light in body and medium length finish. Nose depth makes this pretty interesting and good quality but palette lets it down a touch as it’s a bit more rustic. Amazingly still seems young and fresh to me. May well last for some time, and who knows, even get better. Overall not a bad price for a Burg that is aging well.
