Community Tasting Notes (1)

  • {cork, 13.2%} Well, the colour's not fading, but it seems like most else is! Reticent, developing nose of earth, iodine and blackberry. Very restrained. The palate has a sort of thickness to it; picking up body from american oak, but the flavours are very mild, along the lines of the bouquet; there's not much acid, and the tannins are soft and furry. It's more about texture than flavour; it's chewy and dense, to the point where fresness is fading - certainly not especially fruity - but there's no real depth or complexity to the flavours either. I sometimes find Mudgee reds do this; they just sort-of fade away as the years go by. The slightly earthy finish is not much more than short in length, and caps off a light-medium-bodied palate. This is not for further cellaring; should have been drunk before its 10th birthday.
