Community Tasting Notes (2)

  • Light, a delicate taste. Plenty of tannins there. Cherries and red berries on the palate. Gave it an hour in the decanter which it needed. Finish is short and tannic.

  • New model Faiveley possesses sleeker lines and is immediately more gratifying to the ‘non hard core’ Burg punter. This Volnay shows plenty of ‘Volnayness’ along with some oak derived traits of cola that weren’t very ‘Faiveleyesque’ but a few years ago. There are purple flowers and purple fruits. Old model Faiveley used to capture more meat and earth than others along the Cote d’Or and this has framed some of these elements nicely still. It is round in the mouth with good density and tension. I suspect that like ‘old model Faiveley’ it should age very well.
