Great nose - very fine, and complex, with some lovely soft spice. The palate has dark fruits, but also a backbone of acidity. In fact, the acidity is perhaps a touch overpowering, and that became accentuated with time. I really can't tell if ageing would be a benefit. Perhaps it's a bit closed at the moment and will come out of its shell with age, though as time in the glass didn't help, maybe it's better drunk now.

Complex dark fruits, mostly cassis, plus some earthiness. The structure is solid and there's good concentration and depth for a villages. A very good deal at 26 euros. On this basis, I reckon this should be a 1er cru, which would make sense given it borders Clos de Tart and Clos des Lambrays on the hill above Morey.

Earthier and slightly funkier than the bottle last weekend. Once again, very nice amplitude in the mid-palate before the acidity and soil kick in on the finish.

French Wines from The Source Imports (Dig Wines, San Francisco): Medium center with slight lightening. Fascinating smoke/char note with anise and dark red fruit. This has one of the more appealing textures I've encountered in a 2008 Premier Cru with real red fruit sappiness. Then, it reminds you of the vintage in the leaner, firmly acidic finish. Very good, and at its level, probably more impressive than this producer's Clos St. Denis from the same vintage. If the initial sense of char represented brettanomyces, beware this becoming more prominent with age, though.

disappointing; little fruit, vegetal, drying tannins
