Nose of dry hessian, dry cardboard, barnyard, and sauteed mushroom. Palate is light-to-medium-bodied: tannin is almost entirely faded while acidity is hard and prominent. Flavours of tea leaves, sawdust, and old paper, with hints of lemon, oak, and braised beef. With much time and examination, it is possible to detect red fruit flavours (raspberry, cherry), but it is never more than a hint. This is interesting, but hard to love: most of the fruit is long-gone; its only real virtue is its hard acidity, which could complement some food, but is not especially enjoyable on its own.
