We opened this side by side with a Tensley Syrah Reeves Ranch 2005. Both were lovely and that should be said up front. But this wine … Wow. The perfumed nose of plum, brown sugar, rich cassis, more brown sugar, cherry. And the wine never left up after that. It just kept giving. A balanced, elegant wine that provides (and likely will continue to provide) much pleasure. Some sediment. 15.2% alc. With grilled (beef) London broil. 05.01.22. Highly Recommended.

Appearance: Cloudy/unfiltered medium ruby, a little subtle oranging at the rim. M+ visc. Nose: Overripe red and black fruit, blackberry and black cherry, raw beef, a little bramble and rocky minerality. Black pepper, and a little clove spice. Palate: Bigger and nicely ripe on the palate, huge red fruit, red plum. Mouth-filling, with M acid and M- gently aged tannins. M+/H body/alc. (a touch hot), M length. Super-delicious, elegant and gulpable 10-year-old Syrah from a MS winemaker. Pair with pork with fruit reduction, caramelized pan-roasted vegetables.

Still in a beautiful place, definitely still aimed at fans of ripe, juicy fruit in a syrah, with loads of balanced blackberry and boysenberry, mineral and citrus acids. Delicious and joyous, though not for those dogmatically looking to make a statement about a syrah being like the Northern Rhone and so forth.

Wonderful and still with years of peak drinking. Very dense. Sweet vanilla, cherry, chocolate, dark ripe fruit, and some spice and background red fruit that gives away the otherwise not so evident syrah nature. Loved it!

Just the prettiest berry juice. But opinions differed. As other syrahs tonight accelerated, this lost a little steam.
