The Swan Winery produces fantastic, reeled-in, value-driven wines, and this is a perfect example. A Syrah for sure, but a nod to Crozes-Hermitage rather than soupy and extracted. Black and red fruits, perfectly ripened, with wet rocks, earthy notes like espresso grounds and anise, and beautifully supporting acidity to keep the wine bright and lively. The tannins are just now loosening their grip, and feel finely grained and well-seasoned after 11 years. Drinking beautifully now, and should last through 2025+. Bravo.

My first Joseph Swan Syrah. Very good - good depth & concentration w/out feeling soupy or heavy (for a Syrah). This is in a good place now w/ a little bit of air and will probably be there for at least a couple more years.

Really nice, but needs much more time. A bit high alcohol and richer than what I typically prefer, but great flavors of dark berry and earth that will get better with time. Wait.

Zesty and alive for an 11 year old domestic syrah.

Decanted for 2 hours. Very powerful wine with a great finish. Glad I have another bottle of this vintage. It is ready to drink and enjoy.
