Par for the course, this was quite smooth on the palate, but otherwise hard, tannins were still very present, somewhat more resolved than the last time I had this but still not giving up much. I don't want to say closed b/c I don't think this will ever become expressive, but somewhat austere, very old school. At Blair's, EWG 2002 retrospective.

Ruby red color. Loaded with red cherry fruit, sweet oak, sous bois, mushroom, earth. Really attractive to smell. Palate showed soft resolved tannins, with mellow fruit. A touch of bitterness on the finish but otherwise really pleasant. Tasty bottle.

Brick color, disappointingly muted nose on day 1 with mostly smells of earth, oak and floor (though all very subtle). Cherry flavors and a looong finish. Yummy.
Day 2 the nose became more pronounced with dark cherry smell though still subtle. Tannins are smooth but still prominent as is the fruit so this probably has more years ahead of it.
maybe this is in a shut down phase? This was delicious but I have had $40 village wines with more expressive nose and flavors (though albeit with a short we finish). Overall this wine makes me want to seek out more prestigious producers rather than more prestigious vineyards. Learning experience.

This is in a fabulous spot right now. Menthol and sour cherries blow off after 1 hour decant and everything is perfectly integrated. Drink up or hold

Sour dough, red cherry, strawberry, mushroom, some truffle, cedar. Medium+ acidity and body. Long finish with pronounced flavor and nose intensity.
