This is a mature (not old!) merlot with beautiful mouthfeel, full flavored with dried fruits, leather, and earth notes, finishing long and smooth. I wish I had more of these 12 year old bottles. I served it up with a prime rib/Yorkshire pudding Christmas dinner and couldn’t be happier with the pairing.

At the Silver Oak Release Party, nose of red cherry, currants, and spring flowers, same on the palate, big body, tasty, at its peak if properly cellared, mouth filling fruit, secondary flavors, and a medium/long finish, a lovely treat on a Cabernet Sauvignon Release Day.

my 1st impression is that of others....this is not an age worthy merlot from my cellar we're talking 10.5 years, so CT is off in the "ready to drink" calculation. It is indeed fast and without character. I've carafe my bottle but I'm not holding out hope...it's already been 30 minutes...and on night 2 it's still the same: FLAT and boring enough to make Miles say "I'm not drinking any F-in Merlot"

I think this wine is a touch corked. Even if it wasn't it seems it is well past its prime. That's what I get for trying to age a Napa Merlot I guess.
