La Paulee lunch, served blind. Slightly cloudy color as well. Interesting nose here with lots of sour cherry and stemmy notes, earthy, almost rustic. Good mid mouth presence, pronounced acidity. The strong point of this wine was the aromatic intensity and mid mouth presence.

Quite meaty at first but breathes to show very sweet berry and liqueur cherry fruit smells and flavours. It’s plush, textured and juicy in the mouth with a light herbal infusion. It is not the most structured of wines but has decent vitality and good drive to the finish.

Vosne v Vosne-side Nuits (La Trompette, London): Blind. Dark garnet, dense core. Dark, dense, spicy gloss on nose and palate. Lovely. Savoury. A little licorish-like with the dregs. ****
