  • Tinta Amarela (Trincadeira) is a big component of this vineyard blend from the Quinta da Gaivosa. Typical Douro flavors of blueberry and chocolate, but extra smokey with drying tannins on the finish. Bright acidity helps it to sparkle. Still in great shape after 13 years. Better than the Quinta do Loivos from last week, but not as good as the Abandonado. Impressive for the price range—another great bottle from this producer.

  • Ap: Dark purple
Ar: Dark berries, lot of oak, but actually not that disturbing
Full bodied, high extraction, nicey structured with raather smooth tannins
    Good length

A very Rioja like Douro wine from Alves de Sousa. Pretty sure it will be better in a few years.
