Pours a powerful goldenrod and has quite a presence in the glass. The scent is big on oak (the oak monster cometh?), a little dried pineapple, and a little nuttiness - peanuts, maybe. On the palate...the oak monster cometh! It seems almost a little frizzante, powerfully buttery throughout the palate, and a solid oaky woodiness always in the background. There's a little bit of spicy apple in there, but it quickly falls behind a mid-palate heavy with residual sugar. The finish is a little sour, and the aftertaste just coats the mouth with butter. My girlfriend loves this sort of thing, so I guess there's a market for it, but I can't stand it. To each their own, I suppose.

Nice bottle of lightly oaked chardonnay -- not overly oaked or creamy, yet had enough roundness to the palate to pair well with steamed artichokes & hollandaise. (A hard pairing, I know). Smooth velvet mouthfeel, with a bit of brightness on the swallow to help with the palate clearing. Hints of citrus & melon, with pears providing the roundness and balance. A nice food pairing wine. Previously had it with steamed clams (yum!) and a light cream chowder (also good).
