At first not a pleasant wine, animal notes were prominent, the wine was not balanced and at the end an unpleasant acidity, as agreed with other tasters. Over time the wine improved definitely, so still 91 points. The aloxe corton 53 als from L Latour was much more pleasant. Tasting 52-53-54 at house of friend Frans, meal prepared by Eugenie.

Quite aromatic, dark forest fruit, stewed pear, cinnamon, a bit smokey. Complex. Velvety texture with an almost youthful, dancing acidity. A lot of fruit (remarkable!), and an unlikely concentration and persistence. Even an hour later it was still solid and utterly enjoyable.
Thank you FransS!

My 5th 1952(+) tasting (At amy home, Haarlem, The Netherlands): More complex and concentrated than the '53 Louis Latour Aloxe-Corton, also a high fill. In the start there was a bit too much old wood and gentle vanilla, quite dark and a lot to taste, spicy, good citrus, gentle bitters and firm, but not dry tannins and a long finish. The wine developed in the glass and the bottle. See my 2010 tasting note for a lot of similarity. Fantastic stuff at the age of 70, equal with 5 of the tasters.

Tasted six years ago, I gave this wine 94 points, now 93 (the same as the '52 Pommard from Doudet-Naudin); one point less because age had influenced this wine a bit in the bouquet, although with aeration it developed and became broader. More body than the Pommard; juicy and smooth, in the somewhat edgy style of Corton, so a bit less freshness; two different styles, two lovely wines. My year of birth can still be quite good in Burgundy and Bordeaux, isn't it Harry, Ruud, Ralph, Wouter, Theo and Loek (!)? It was a privilige to taste these two '52's together. See also: Lanessan '52, Branaire '52 and Domaine Sainte-Barbe '52 Rivesaltes.

This was really an exceptional bottle (level into the neck). It started with an unbelievable fresh and brick/red colour. The nose was extremely fresh. Even my wife, who recognizes age immediately in wine, was confused positively by the freshness and the fruity taste. Recognizable, but not dry tannins and a balanced and lasting aftertaste. Incredibly vital after 57 years and really admired and enjoyed by two boys (friend Harry and me) of the same vintage. If you still have a bottle; you are priviliged!
