"The mind is willing, but the flesh is weak" (Chicago, IL): Shows its age and a modest oiliness that gets a little heavy on the palate. The ripeness doesn't do this many favours either. Not as bright and drinkable as the 2013, this has more browned, aged notes and more weight that make it less electric.

Wine in the time of Corona Virus - Quarantining in NYC & NH; 3/7/2020-9/1/2020 (NYC/NH): Opened this for a Thursday night Zoom call with a good friend and fellow Rhone enthusiast. So delicious that I got the husband to join me and finish the bottle after the call. This '07 Condreiu is in a perfect place right now - just so luscious and complex - super delicious!

Wine in the time of Corona Virus - Quarantining in NYC & NH; 3/7/2020-9/1/2020 (NYC/NH): 3rd bottle for our socially distanced picnic. I am on record as a big Viognier fan - and the '07 Condrieu from Benetiere is right on point. A nice age for enjoyment now - this is honeyed with great texture, while retaining acidity and minerality on the finish. Delicious!

Big fan of the white rhones and always fun to get to try one with a bit more age on it. Interesting comparison point to the Ridge Adelaida which was a 2018 and quite young and fresh and has a bunch of grenache blanc which I love for the raciness. This is more round curves and a mouthful but also just very lovely. Great honey notes.

Wine in the time of Corona Virus - Quarantining in NYC & NH; 3/7/2020-9/1/2020 (NYC/NH): Picked this up from last week's Crush offer. Popped and poured for our weekly Saturday on-line/offline. YUM!! Totally delicious and everything I really enjoy in a nicely aged Condrieu. Nose is pretty, color is golden. On the palate this has beeswax, stone fruit, a bit of citrus pith, honeycomb, and minerals on the long finish. Great balance and mouthfeel, lots of layers. Much more interesting than the '10 vintage which we also picked up in the offer.
