Lunch at Meii Sushi with Davyd and T+C. Drank in Gabriel Standart. Tasted blind. Screw-cap. Appearance is clear, pale intensity, yellow gold colour. Legs. Nose pronounced intensity, with aromas of petroleum, fruity citrus lemon, pineapple, ripe yellow peaches. Developed. On the palate, bone-dry, very high acidity, medium+ alcohol (13.5%), medium+ body. Pronounced flavour intensity, with flavours of petroleum oil, rich citrus lemon, pineapple, ripe yellow peaches, stony minerality. Juicy long finish. Very good quality. I like this expressive bone-dry high acid white and I am a fan of a good dose of petroleum. Lots of nicely ripe supporting fruit. Could do with more minerality though, and lacks the typical white pepper/gingery thing that I thought should characterise a Gruner Veltliner in a blind taste. I was hence guessing Alsace Riesling. Berg is an Erste Lage plot in Traisental.
