Has a tightness and focus to it that the Ancient Vines does not. Enjoyed it with our gourmet burger night. Some Chocolate, cedar and oak. I think I like the Ancient Vines better, and its less expensive as well.

Dark red. Strong aromas of cedar, wintergreen, cinnamon, allspice, other notes of rose, redcurrant, pomegranate, cranberry, light notes of tar, smoke, graphite, earth. Medium sweetness, medium acidity. Medium body, medium tannins. It's hard to say too much about this wine, and it's a great example of why I love mourvedre when it's done right. It's a varietal that has strong secondary characteristics at a young age, and this one is literally more spice than fruit. Almost like spices were added, it's that strong. The fruits tend toward the red spectrum, but they're "bitey" varieties (which I like) as opposed to the softer reds like raspberry and strawberry. I'm much more of a black fruit fan, but this wine is so complex and enticing that I have zero grounds to complain. And in the mouth it's almost as wonderful...just enough tannic assertiveness and acidity for the amount of body and sugars, and medium bodied for non-fatiguing drinking pleasure. Sure, it's a little pricey for an everyday wine ($34), but this is anything but "everyday" in character. Strongly recommended. I'm a little leery about trying the 2009, though, as it has jumped from 14% ABV to 15%...not a trend I like to see.

Very earth-driven. Herbs dominate. Lush fruit in the back ground. Very "french-like". We enjoyed the character of the wine.

Good nose, smells earthy with some plum. Berry taste with medium finish. Paired wonderful with garlic rosemary lamb roast.
