  If the varietal is indeed Mencia then I am unfamiliar with it. It has a very purple red colour and a vaporous floral nose that is redolent of a Mourvedre. On the palate it is bright with red cherries but quickly subsides but with a lingering finish of a little chocolate/mocha; and I don't think there is aging potential here: no burgeoning tannins or structure to sustain it. For the money I am content; but I won't rush out and stock up.

  This Spanish Red provided another opportunity to enjoy a bargain priced wine that presented characteristics of a much more expensive bottle of wine. Smooth and silky with some tartness and good overall balance. Nice finish and able to stand on its own to be enjoyed without food.

  Well this one sure didn't stay in the bottle long! I was interested and anxious to try this and was surprised and very pleased. It was both medium colored and bodied and had a more delicate taste than I had anticipated. It was light without being at all watery. While it certainly doesn't coat your mouth it leaves a nice finish and a pleasing memory. It is hard to beat at this price point. Very interesting and a first try of this region in Spain for me.

  Bright red in color. Cherry nose with light smoke and anise spice. Med bosy with big tannins that need to calm down a bit. The fruit is showing light but I think this wine might come around with some time open or laying down. Definately concentrated. c5a11t12o5
