  • Badly corked. Visually it was still quite a bright ruby, indicating a wine that still had plenty of life left in it - but sadly not this bottle.

  • (Lunch at Kevin& Vicki's) PNP Big "Whew" after the wine was immediately judged drinkable; as the previous 96 Flora Springs cab was but vinegar.As RocknRoller pointed out below, there was only the slightest hint of age looking at the miniscus for bricking. Deep dark color. It took 30 mins. in glass for nose to open ; 27 years old and we could have decanted! .Nose hinted at blue fruits, forest floor, old leather.Modest tannins but still present. Complex palate, nicely integrated. Wine fadding after 2-3 hours open and in glass, apparent to all of us. But what a nice ride over the first couple of hours. (I have to rate it 92 1/2, A half point point higher than RocknRoller - I brought it!

  • Wednesday Wine Lunch (Rocknroller's (Kevin & Vicki's Place)): Very dark red color with a 2mm clear meniscus. PNP, drank a glass plus over 3+ hours. This was somewhat reductive to start, vegetal and earthy. After about 20 minutes we start to see things blow off. Gradually the nose comes around and shows fine pipe tobacco, earth, cassis, blackberry, oak and anise with sublte purple flowers. The palate is full bodied with gravelly tannins, the same pipe tobacco, cassis, blackberries, wood, spice and graphite, and a little leather. This wasn't the most elegant of Mondavi Reserve's, but very good. It seemd to fall off some after the 3 hour mark.

  • Small fine wine shop in HK purchase. Durand & Ocean glass hotel bathroom ...lol. Amazing nose on the P&P. Beautiful Ruby like Claret color, crystal in clarity. Like smoked rustic earthy fruit. The balance is incredible, this can go another 30 years. Such energy, liveliness. Bit exciting w the acid, fruit is secondary, adn the oak is there w no creaminess. Lets see in an hour or two w a fat steak.
