  • Bob's cellar. Dark red, no bricking at all. Blackberry, damson, red earth and ironstone nose, sweet and still has a youthful air. Eucalyptus and tannic opening, still dry, fruit is reticent on PnP basis. Powerful and big compared to the Latour, certainly not the same level of sophistication. Rich and spicy.
Day 2, knitted together better, the eucalyptus, ironstone, red earth and Australian bush is more distinct. Nice but I prefer the Edelstone.

  • Deep ruby red, light red rim.
Deeply scented, rich ripe earthy red and black berries, sweet fruitcake spice, tar and licorice.
Medium weight, silky smooth, good long middle and excellent resonance with very fine silky tannins. Blue, red and blackberries, sweet ripe fruits dominate, fruitcake zest, delicious earthy brambly notes, dark tar spice, classic HOG profile but just a bit lighter bodied.

  • Deep red berry, plums and dark spice fragrance.
Strong, intense palate. Ripe damson and raspberry fruits, cherry pip zest, firm acidity but finishing soft with very pliant refined tannins. Licorice and iron filings, tar and smoke all add complexity especially on the long finish. Very smooth but with intensity to last a lot longer.
