France Trip: Paris, Champagne, Burgundy; 9/3/2023-9/17/2023 (Paris, Champagne, Burgundy): Light gold color. Drank a glass over an hour at Veuve Cliquot. Disgorged 2008. Nose, flint, fume, a little dull at first, then pain grille, truffle, sous bois, grilled pear; the palate takes on weight in glass, chesse cloth, liqueured, quince, dried apricot, apple paste, ocean, oxidative, rive stone. This was interesting, pretty much flat now in terms of bubbles, but very vinous and like white burg it opened up and was much more interesting.

Out of Magnum: Quite mature but overall a solid champagne. Tertiary notes are present but the bubbles help to keep the freshness. Good food Champagne. Drink up as it will not improve

(Disgorged in October 2008, 56% Pinot Noir, 11% Meunier and 33% Chardonnay, dosage 4 gr/l) Delicious golden yellow colour with an endless stream of very fine bubbles and a wonderful maturity showing butterscotch, figs and citrus flowers in a very pleasant way. Smoothing lemon acidity combined with some brown butter and lengthy balanced finish showing a lime bitterness. Wow! This has really evolved with the extra decade of post-disgorgement time and show no signs of decline coming soon.. (Best 2010-2025)

Bubbles gone, well matured, but full-bodied and nutty.
