  • Fabulous well made wine. Overnight slow-ox in bottle and a further 2 hour or more in decanter after that during lunch. So it was exposed to air for 18h or more. This Toro wine needs it. The concentration, copious black fruits, silky tannins, spices, jammy, and a length that last 30-secs or more, by just taking sips. Stupendous!

  • There is no other way to describe this, but as one kick ass wine. Just amazing. Only had one bottle and i enjoyed every last drop. 6 hr slow ox and then to a decanter as we drank it over 2 hrs. In my opinion much more enjoyable than el nido. Not as full or thick. Everything is well balanced and integrated. I dont see this wine improving further but will hold for another 5 years. So glad I was able to get my hands on it.

  • Warm nights, big wines (park ridge country club, park ridge, IL): Nose: The nose is powerful and intense, filled with black cherries, raspberries, blackberries, spice notes, tobacco, cedar, licorice, leather, violets, and earth. There is good depth and intensity, but it doesn't seem to show off that next level of layering that would really show itself off.

Taste: The feel was Full bodied with crisp, medium+ acidity and chewy, high tannins. The tannins still show off an aggressive side with an intensity to the tones of black cherries, raspberries, spice notes, tobacco, cedar, licorice, violets, and earth.

Overall: This was somewhat difficult to pin down, but I ended up going towards Ribera del Duero, so close enough. The structure is still a bit stiff and can use some more time.

  • Slow ox. at cellar temp for ~6 hours before drinking. Had as part of a great lineup, and this was drinking quite well. Plenty of structure left, but seems to have mellowed based on other reviews, and is showing it's age nicely. Will wait another 5 years to open another bottle - excited to see where it goes.
