Fine Wines SG - 90s Tuscany vs The World (Fine Wines SG): Deep ruby, bit of garnet on the edges. Big nose with a punch of florals, tar, grilled meat, fern. The meaty feels continue onto the palate paired with rich jammy cassis, adding on some tar. Highly tannic, still fresh, good flesh and intensity, and a fairly good finish

See prior note...the wine has indeed settled down. Tannins no longer as prevalent and no complaints whatsoever. Better the second night. The good parts of the prior review remain.

Interesting bottle. Incredible amounts of sediment, so make sure to decant this through a filter. The wine changed several times over the first couple of hours, but we consistently detected blackberry, black cherry, plum and tobacco. Tannins were mouth puckering and the word sour was used a couple of times. Wine seems to be in a funny stage. We really liked it on release, but not completely sure now. It certainly needs to lay down for a while and hopefully the fruit will outlast the tannins. No rating assigned as we are confused. Try in 2010 or 2011.
