Dried fruit, cardboard, some bittersweet notes and an old scurvy seadog in the nose - on the palate still with some fruity weight, sweetness and structure but way too broad. Declining, drink up or find a young chicken to cook it in.

Like previous commentator, my last bottle from a batch from Trader Joe's - one of the great bargains. Only a slight hint of browning round the rim (slight!) and clearly still a few years life. Slightly down from its peak. Syrah pepper still there, grenache coolness and tannins so integral to the whole, but the fruit is slowly drifting away. A beautiful wine, sad to have the last, but it would be a shame to waste it by keeping it any longer. Still one of my good memories

My last bottle. I picked up a bunch of these at trader joe's some years back and had the patience to cellar them because I was so impressed when it was young. This still shines. It's like a cote du rhone wine from a good year with a very clean profile. Completely clear, still not much sign of age in the color. No garrigue, but it's got dark notes from the syrah and high candied notes from the grenache as well as very good floral aromas. I wish I could pick up bargains like this every day. If I could do it again I'd buy another case!

Ruby colour. Medium body. Strong aroma, slightly acidic. Smooth taste, not too heavy tannin but little fruit.
