Community Tasting Notes (10) Avg Score: 87.4 points

  • The wine is clear and bright with a deep ruby colour.

The nose is clean and developing, showing medium(+) intensity aromas of black fruit (blackberry, dark cherries), pungent spices (black pepper), oak (chocolate), bottle ageing (truffles) and hints of herbaceous (mint).

The wine is off-dry in the mouth with a medium(-) acidity. It has medium(+) fine-grained tannins and a high well-integrated alcohol. It has a full body and pronounced intensity flavours of black fruit (blackberry, dark cherries), pungent spices (black pepper), oak (chocolate), bottle ageing (truffles) and hints of herbaceous (mint). The finish is long.

It is an outstanding quality wine. It has a lingering finish and very concentrated flavours that balance the alcohol. It also shows some degree of complexity provided by oak and bottle ageing, as well as spicy notes.

Can drink now, but it has enough tannic structure and fruit concentration to develop some more tertiary aromas over the next 3-5 years.

  • Aroma of vanilla, oak, melon notes. Bold and rich mouthfeel. Oak and vanilla come through here too. Fruitiness becomes more stonefruit—peach, nectarine. A spicy character stands out with fruit on a medium finish.

  • WSET Advanced L9 Australia - New Zealand: Deep ruby, opaque black core, purple rim, slow-moving tears. Medium(-) intensity developing aromas of black berries, cherries, leather. Dry, medium acidity, low tannins, medium(+) body and hot alcohol with medium(+) intense flavours of black cherries, black currant, chocolate, pepper. Long finish. Score dinged on the nose: did the palate develop ahead of the bouquet?. May be entering a closed phase.
