Needs a 2 hours decant, then starts to open up nicely. Much better than a year ago. Nose of dark fruits (blueberry, plum, blackberry), hints of almonds. Very balanced acidity and tannins. Finish could be longer, but good value for money!

Medium garnet. Nose of ripe fruit, oak, cherry, bakery. There is an earthy, animalic, Bordeaux touch to it. Bordeaux with a modern touch I would say. Enters the palate ripe and lush, big fruit, oak again, nice 2009 sunny touch, crowd pleaser style. Unfortunately on the finish this wine dries out. The material they harvested is not bad but I think they have overdone it in the cellar with oak and extraction. So, surely not for the Connoisseur but a good enough on the surface for a less discerning crowd. This is made by the Ausone stable. Now, Ausone is often very concentrated itself. It seems they have tried this style on a lesser terroir. I am not fully convinced that it worked. May be try again in 10 years, although drying tannins most often remain drying tannins.

Fresh, bright and firm in character, the nose shows off a crisp, red berry stone, espresso and leaf character. There is an austerity to the palate presence that was not expected with a 2009.

Expressive nose - rich sweet fruit, slightly jammy with notes of chocolate and spices. On the palate quite sweet again, rather low acidity, lots of ripe fruit again, medium finish. Drink or hold. 87-89
