  • Very good, but rather tightly wound. Took more than an hour for the acid to calm down. Dense, and beautifully perfumed. Rather like budget Chateau Nuef. will buy again and let her rest for a year or two.

  • Opened and poured, this wine showed well with the high percentage of syrah (50%) making its presence known. The bouquet shows stern but defined aromatics of black fruit, black pepper, leather, minerals and stone. The color is dark ruby to almost black. It is correct for the wine's age. The medium/full bodied palate shows good definition and balance in a stern package. Tannins make their presence known on a medium length finish. Compared to Chateau de Montmirail's '07 Vacqueyras "Deux Frères", this is the more stern and less forthcoming wine. This should benefit from a couple of years of bottle age.
