Community Tasting Notes (1)

  • Going on to a matted medium yellow colour. Reductive nose, with SO2, flint and the pungent white fruits reminding me of other wines by this producer from the Gaispfad. Fifteen minutes pass and there is passionfruit, but that fades. Proper feinherb in the sense that sweetness can't be pin-pointed, but this is pretty much a spätlese trocken in disguise, even if it doesn't necessarily meet the requirements for a dry Mosel riesling. Tasty and ripe, but straightforward (once the reductive characters lift) and with an unspecial length. The nose is the weak point. Day 2 from a half: no change in colour. Nose still reductive. Fruit does not play a big part on the nose, which speaks to me more of winemaking. The palate shows the fruit, which is adequately ripe, but the vintage is pulling it back.
    Good plus. Drink-up.
