The wine is a fairly deep ruby red color. The outstanding nose features cassis, dried herbs, and cigar box, with less prominent notes of cherry, vanilla, and white pepper. The wine has medium body with fairly solid, ripe tannins and very good acidity. This is very refined and polished on the palate with no excess weight or ripeness. The palate shows nice cassis and cherry with spice, dried herbs, and a touch of earthiness adding considerable depth, which lingers through the fairly long finish. This is a very nice Howell Mountain Cabernet that seems to be just entering a nice drinking window.

Deep ruby color. Cassis, cigar box, baking spices, licorice, dried herbs, with hints of cherry and vanilla on the very nice nose. Medium body with a nice tannic backbone and very nice acidity. Nice spicy fruit on the palate with dried herbs and a bit of earthiness coming in on the back end. Fairly long finish. A real nice Howell Mountain cab that is just starting to strut now that it has lost some of the upfront fruity baby fat.

Deep ruby color. Blackberry, cedar, licorice, dried herbs, a bit of scorched earth, vanilla, and some minerality on the nose. Medium body with solid tannins and very nice acidity. A little more tannic than I remember from the last bottle, also not a smooth on the palate. This bottle wasn't decanted, but it seems to need some air. This will improve with some cellar time. An absolute steal for a Howell Mtn cab for under $20.
