beautiful wine, pure blackcurrant on decanting that developed into a wonderful tobacco depth with a really lovely medicinal cedary finish. Tannins still there but fully resolved.

Coravin fun - Domaine de Chevalier rouge (My place, Kent Street): From Coravin. Savoury, meaty; touch of Bovril like the 1994, over blackcurrant, bramble, plums (all slightly dried out), earth touch of pyrazines, cedar and sweet spice in support, leather and liquorice. Fleshy, juicy, meaty black visits & talc textured burr goes hand in hand on the finish, slight non-intrusive alcohol warmth helps in the carrying. Nice.

Classy, classic profile. purple berry notes upfront but then nice graphite and silky tannins. Not a blockbuster, but a solid midweight mouthfeel and lithe structure. Had not had this vintage before, so no points of comparison but was a good showing.

From magnum, with confit du canard.
Still deep red.
Displays a wonderful cab-nose with cassis and some spice.
Very balanced and long on the palate, classic Pessac from what for me is still an underrated vintage in Bordeaux.
Very pleasing wine at this stage, Great value for money, and a good match for the duck.
