Roumier Chambolle Musigny 2001. Darker in color nose: is dark cherry, Asian market spice , bit of licorice , palate is fruitful, still tannins linger and medium strength. Good acidity. Starts silky , oak well integrated , but tiniest bit of bitterness on finish. Medium length and body. Overall very enjoyable!

1st wine in 2wks. Sous Bois, autumn leaves, Chinese tea intermixed with orange peel, sweet red fruits, floral and umami. Very fresh entry, tannin has mostly fully resolved, resulted in a very saturated yet pretty weightless mouthfeel, very persistent with medium length. The completeness here is impressive. This has nice power and depth, and slowing growing. I especially like the acidity (showing after 30mins or so in the glass) and salinity. Will hold for many years but I like this stage, just entering secondary with some nice mellow primary fruits. Elegant and engaging.

Another lost Friday afternoon gathering – 96 Dom, 08 Cristal and a Rudy blend (Blacksalt, Washington DC): The lightest of the flight. Youthful medium expressive nose displaying subtle red fruit, raspberry jam, slightly dry cherry, sesame/toasted oak, sweet spices and earth. Perfectly mature palate, a bit straightforward red fruit, warm and round, bright acidity, good earthy mineral, still noticeable slightly coarse tannins and a medium to long subtle red fruit driven finish. Drinking nicely.

(Roumier Georges Chambolle-Musigny) Medium-plus cherry-red, no fading. Bready and meaty notes mingle with the fruit - after a while it's almost like minestrone soup - quite bizarre. Perhaps a little sulfur was causing the problem, given time it's mainly creamy black cherry. The palate is much more like it, fresh black-shaded fruit and really good acidity. Silky with good concentration and medium, medium-plus length. Very tasty.
(Domaine G. Roumier / Christophe Roumier Chambolle-Musigny) Dark, dense garnet red color; slight brett, touch of VA and roses on nose; big, tight, roses, woody palate with firm underlying tannins; medium finish
(Roumier Chambolle-Musigny) What a beautiful, pure, lacey wine this was. Why can't all village wines taste like this? Red fruits, perfect balance, soft texture and great concentration all on a medium-bodied frame. A pleasure to drink. Not too complex but so well made. A joy.
(Domaine G. Roumier / Christophe Roumier Chambolle-Musigny) Mild earthy, strawberry nose; tight, brambley, strawberry palate with high acidity; short-medium finish 85+ pts.

Cherried aromatics, not super precise.
