Last minute impromptu meet-up at ESBK. Drank in Grassl 1855. Sublime with Japanese Uwa Misuji beef. Appearance is not clear, fine sediments (a lot more towards last third of bottle), ruby colour with wide garnet rim. Legs. Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of licorice, lovely pure red fruit of deep red cherries, earth. Some malt on the nose with more air. Developing. On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium alcohol (13.5%), super silky mouth-feel with cashmere-like medium+ tannins, medium+ body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of sweet licorice, lovely deep red cherries, classic sour red cherries, earth + minerals. Long pleasing finish that keeps the juices flowing. Excellent quality. Exactly how I remember Soldera to be. Elegant and oh so silky. All about that superb mouth-feel. Drinking in a good place already for me.

Pompette Salon《酌樂 Series XII》 情人、反派與智者:男中音的極致魅力 (Taichung, Taiwan): Soaring aromatics of red flowers, cherry, and mint. No sign of heat at all. Translucent and jelly-like, the complex, ethereal yet light-footed palates are truly amazing. Very energetic and pure. Elements like cherry, plum, guava, and candy are all mixed in, balance is superb.

colour is like a tawny port. beautiful light ruby with amber edges and clear. perfumed and very floral nose, eucalyptus, iron, bright red berries and a touch of smoke. the palate is stunningly smooth and silky. with air, it picks up a touch of weight and brightness but is completely devoid of any tart or sharp edges. a wonderfully feminine and delicate rendition of brunello. finishes long, savoury and mineral. phenomenal.

This is an ‘03? Sure, it’s got a ton of ripe fruit. But it’s a yummy bowl of crisp strawberries and red cherries, without any stewed or jammy flavors and a great balance of sweet and sour. There’s an earthy character and a hint of a celery-like note. Transparent ruby color but middle- rather than lightweight, with great persistence and grip from pillowy tannin. A touch of tarry scent. Surprisingly primary for an 18-year-old wine—I’d’ve thought this was aged 5-10, from a less structured grape than Sangiovese. This is only at the start of its drinking window, and hopefully will unfurl more complexity in the decades to come.
