I was pleasantly surprised by this tart blend from a producer with a reputation of making mainly port. A little nutty, dark color, nice with some pepper dishes.

(Dow Douro Reserva Vale do Bomfim) Opaque purple red violet color; big, plummy, berry, sweet oak nose; very tight, tart berry, tart plum, black fruit, with oak that should integrate with time, needs 2-3 years; medium-plus finish 87+ pts.
