Deep yellow color. Not possible to rate this wine, as it was heavily corked. What a pity, and how unnecessary, given how well screw-caps have been performing. I could discern some mineral notes, and just the beginning of that wonderful complexity that makes Montrachet great. Unlike many Burgundy wines, red and white, Montrachet is a truly extraordinary wine.

Gold color. Honey, rice cracker and tropical fruit on the nose. I loved the honey on both the nose and palate, but the layers were not as complex as other Montrachet. The palate was very creamy. I think the wine is still too young now. A lot of life left until the layers fully reveal itself. It is a very elegant Montrachet with finesse. Still very enjoyable today but it will be better with aging.

Uncorked DK BYO to NOMA: La Tâche 96 and fried eggs (NOMA): Darkened/golden yellow. Very intense nose, almost burns away the little hairs in the nose. Bright yellow fruit and burned cookie crumble. Almost as rustique as a glass of Armagnac. Very classic mouthfeel with yellow fruit, hints of licorice and a good minerality. Very long aftertaste.

$170 retail. I was not expecting this wine to blow me away - but it sure did. Huge wine - the essence of Chardonnay. Deep, rich, honey and ripe, decadent Chardonnay fruit. Wow. Not a subtle wine, but undeniably excellent.

popped and poured. A little toasty, kinda muted at first, definitely good acidity here. Minerality came out with the oyster
