A little thin and acidic at first taste, but it deepens and evolves to something richer with time. Color is rust-brown red, but no signs of orange at the edges. Aroma is old violets and forest fruits, which carry onto the palate, sharpened (but not dominated) by the abiding acidity, which makes the wine eminently suitable for rich food, as opposed to tasting it just on its own. The finish ends with a taste of stewed cherries, as in a cherry pie, but not that sweet.
