Powerful smoky nose and palate. More savory, smoky that fruity. Excellent structure and length and balance. Fully mature but should hold 10+ yrs. This is masculine for a Margaux imo.

Looks Dark and brooding -not yet brick coloured. Lots of harsh wood and tannin on opening. Plenty of fruit left. After one hour, things start to soften, integrate and open. Not a wine with a huge amount of finesse but it has ‘gravitas’…..not very Margaux.

Inky purple black core. Explosive bouquet right out of bottle at 19 years old. Very little bricking. Blind I would’ve said 2015 based on looks. Palate was generously fruit forward with black currant, dark plum and black cherry. All ripe and sweet. Beguiling with a medium body juxtaposed against the dark core. Smooth as silk and more tertiary flavors mid palate. Mink oil and mocha tinged coffee. Really amazing I have always liked Las Combes but haven’t had it in years. Well worth the return. Only nick on the score was finish was abbreviated, but I will give it a chance to sit out and see if that that changes. Highly recommended.

(Château Lascombes) Opaque dark red violet color; deep cassis, with a touch of roasted fruit and nice touch of herbs on nose; tight, drying tannins, tart cassis and mineral palate with a touch of iron; medium-plus finish

Initially quite oaky but after decanting, nicely balanced with just a hint of oak. Lovely pairing with lamb shank and mushroom risotto.
