This wine has reached its peek, velevety tannins that keep the structure of the wine. On the nose it shows age with flowers cherries. Black fruits and cherries on the palet. Will last a couple of years but don’t see much room for improvement.

Appearance: This is 11 years old but hardly showed any age. There was slight wateriness at the rim but no browning; good garnet colour – not quite bright crystal clear but close – and only the merest smidgen of sediment. Medium bodied with medium legs. Nose: The bottle was decanted 2 hours before drinking and the nose was slight on opening but developed over time with clean red fruits of medium to slight intensity and a hint of leather. Palate: Good dry red fruits with everything nicely in balance – fruit, alcohol, tannins. The tannins were very smooth as expected after this time in bottle but enough to give good structure. Medium body and flavour intensity with red plums and possibly some cedar in the finish which I’d rate medium plus. We drank this with duck confit and thoroughly enjoyed it. Probably best to drink any you have in cellar, this was my last.

Really has come into its own, smooth and silky, light drinking.

A perfect English summer country house weekend (Copse): Short decant. Opened to go with the grilled lamb cutlets. Consistently joyful, still in a great drinking window and not starting to age or decline.
