Excellent wine--this compares with some of the best California or Bordeaux varietals at a fraction of the cost of the California wines. Subtle and smooth on the palette. Well balanced with a round finish.

Light nose, not much fruit. Thin, weak palate, almost nothing on the finish except for some tannins. Barboursville's '07 cab sav reserve is much better (I've tasted it at the winery). This barely qualifies taste-wise as a cabernet sauvignon. In a blind tasting I might guess it's a pinot noir, it's so thin. Disappointing.

Appearance: Clear, moderate intensity ruby.
Nose: Clean, medium-intensity and developed berries.
Palate: Dry, medium- acidity, low tannins, soft black berry fruit, light-to-medium bodied, modest finish.
Easy to drink. Good alone or with light fare.

A bit austere; toasty nose, minimum fruit on the palette. Well balanced. Overall, not impressive.
