At first it had a lovely nose typical of Bordeaux. To taste it was bright and forward, followed by a short acidic stab on the finish. After two hours, it became more harmonious. However, by this stage the fruit was only modest. The palate was smooth and there wasn’t much of interest on the finish. This was a tame wine bordering on the insipid. Night 2: seems to have improved. The fruit showed well, leading onto a muscular mid-palate. The tannins showed way more grip than the first night, and also shades of well-judged oak. There is still a bitter finish but it adds a welcome savoury dimension to the wine. Not sure what to make of it but not very convincing.
