Weekend in Minneapolis; 8/17/2018-8/18/2018 (Various Locations): Opened and decanted and then followed throughout the course of dinner at a nice pasta restaurant in Minneapolis. This was a lovely wine. No detailed notes, but I appreciated how much it evolved throughout the course of dinner. It was fairly accessible early on, but really much better after about an hour or two in the decanter. Lots of the more tart red fruits and an acidity that is just meant for Italian foods. The food brought out the wine and vice versa. Drank next to an '80 Unico it did not entirely overshadow this.

So, maybe the Roagnas don't work for the Red Cross. But in my book they are a special crew. Making a cuvée of different vintages of the Barbaresco Paje and selling it cheaper than Paje, I don't know what to say ... And yes,the wine is pretty damned good. Funky, chewy with a great sense of place and origin with red berries, menthol, wonderful acidity and tannins ripe and ready to go. Lovely.

This is a really great way to taste maturing barbaresco. Chewy in the Roagna style, a bit oif fuck, and lots of spicy, lively barbaresco fruit, as well as some tobacco, leather, and an inflection of anise. Fine aromatics. Lots of fun and I'll look for some more....

- Ruby color. It's balanced with a full body. Smooth texture with a long finish.

Great QPR, semi mature Nebbiolo on the lighter side. Paired excellent with entrecote of veal and chantarelles!
