  • Apricot, peach, vanilla. Quite a full-bodied and creamy white. Paired well with moderately spiced Indian curry.

  • Saturday, October 15, 2005 Bob arrived and we pulled the capsule and cork of a Pipestone Vineyard Paso Robles Viongier 2004 thinking that if we liked it, I might pick up more when we hit the wine shops. On first blush the nose was big and expansive with apricot, white peach, pear and a boat load of white flowers. It seemed to hold promise. Flavors of apricot, tangerine, pear, some apple and maybe a bit of white pepper along with tropical fruit just inundate the palate in a jumbled, unfocused sort of way. The finish is sweet and toasty with lingering flavors of oak. Way too much oak here. (And on the second day, way too much sugar. If this stuff doesn’t have RS, then I’ll eat the label.) A whopping 14.5% alc. If you are looking for LaDoriane, don’t look here. Offering up an observation taken from one of our fellow WCWNer’s, Bob described this as ’a cocktail.’ Striking the Pipestone off our list, we headed to Charlottesville for stinky cheese, lunch, vino and whatever else might fall in our path while avoiding the gubernatorial election signs of ’Sportsman for [fill in any empty suit’s name].
