The nose on this dark ruby colored wine starts off with dark cherry, almost Chicken Cherry Cola, but over time moves to a more complex nose of high toasted oak (almost burnt), smoky, espresso coffee, roasted meat, rich dark cherry, tobacco, black pepper, spices, dirt, plum, raspberry, red berries, and herbs. The mouth on this medium bodied wine starts off a bit boring, but soon explodes as the wine opens. To be honest, the wine starts off, off balanced with far too much heat, overly tannic, along with a cherry/acid combination that is single sided. Over time the mouth calms down to a lovely rich and velvety mouth, the tannin calm, the mouth opens to more fruit, raspberry, dark cherry, rich espresso, plum, and herbs. The mid plate is rich and balanced with tannin, toasted oak, herbs, tobacco, and a dollop of black pepper. The finish is super long and spicy with nice tannin, tobacco, rich espresso, a hint of roasted meat, vanilla, raspberry, dirt, and plum. This is really a nice wine one it calms down.

Talk about Surprising, I wasn't really interesting in trying this as I was thinking hot climate pinot blargh, but Boy oh boy was I surprised, this was a couple WOTN , Think Sonoma Pinot compared to Santa Barbera.

Needed a lot of time to open up (2+ hours). Nice floral aroma, cherries on the palate. Finish was a little bitter and harsh.
