  Produttori Del Barbaresco 1965 Barbaresco.
  On the nose, dried fruits and dried figs,nuts, cheese, almonds and nuts, soy sauce, truffles, animal scents, mint, anchovies, mushrooms, raisins. On the palate, dried fruit, figs, soy sauce, some port sweetness, some cheese, almonds, nuts, some mint and menthol. Good structure and integration and well kept - actually very harmonious, delicious and tasty even though it’s not a good vintage. The nose is intoxicating and kept going.

  stellar wine. two bottles opened together for a large group and perfectly sound. corks were in terrific shape and removed seamlessly with the durand. allowed for 10 minutes of air in the bottle and then poured. emerged with a pale rose color fading to amber bricking along the edges. the nose was immediately clean and expressive out of the bottle. gorgeous, nuanced perfume of dried roses, fennel, strawberries, dry earth, and caramel. light bodies with a bit of acidity left and no trace of tannin. lithe and delicate. soft flavors, sweet and savory at the same time. dried red fruits, cake, and baked cinnamon. unending finish. remarkable expression of maturity. best old wine i’ve ever had.

  I would never have expected that a standard barbaresco from Produttori, vintage 1965, would be in shape, but it was! Clean and mature, but fruity on the nose, quite juicy with soft tannins. Quite acidic, but not at all unpleasant. A very pleasant surprise!
