  • Excellent 24 year old Chianti. Still nice red color, dried cherries.

  • Popped and poured. Light to medium garnet color with bricking around the edges. Nose of leather, dried cherry and sweet tobacco. Similar flavors on the palate with a bit of earthy undertones. Medium+ acid, fully resolved tannins. Started to fall apart after about 45 minutes or so but drank very well otherwise for an almost 20 year old chianti. Very enjoyable.

  • PnP, non-blind. This more than made up for my last (corked) bottle, and proved on of the best examples of aged (and traditional) Sangio I've had this year. Detailed earthen and fruit aromas, with a delicate ring of tertiary aromas and flavors that compounded the purity and overall experience alike. A textbook example of the grape and region. Just 12,5% abv, but full in the mouth, with a lovely stream of fresh acids balancing everything out. Another very solid 5 years yet ahead. Seems to be some bottle variation, as one a few months ago was just OK. recommended

  • PnP. Cork soaked 1/4 thru, in vg shape. Color fully transitioned and faded to the slightly amber rim. Earth, leather, cherry, violet, cedar and red apple skin. Medium-bodied, very lively acids. Slightly bitter, tannins still offering up nice grip. Med finish. Very correct, clean, and begs for food - if for no other reason than very little fruit remains. With air, it adds some complexity on the nose, less so on the palate. I have one more bottle left that I will consume over the following year. Acids will/have outlive(d) the fruit, so recommend drinking now. 12,5% abv

  • past its prime in my view. almost no fruit left, mostly herbal (thyme, bay leaf, cedar). Went well with steak, but could have given more pleasure when younger.
