At first I thought this was OTH. but after 30 minutes it opened up great and blew off any sense of oxidation. Quite surprising but nice. Pear and apricot predominated with a little nuttiness. Pleasant surprise

Very nice, complex Sauv blanc. I thought it would be "gone" but was surprised it had some fruit left, mostly pear and apricot. The usual nuttiness was there with a hint of the age in an almost oxidized state. Pleasant for several hours after opening, it held up quite well and went nicely with a spicy Thai Mahi Mahi and a spicy grilled Salmon. I liked the complexity of it. It still had a little fruit but was much more lively than I expected.

Mostly California Wines from the '70s at John Gilman's. (John Gilman's.): I know the Sémillon is always a big hit with the uber geek community, but I've just never been partial to Sémillon, or oxidative wines and until someone pointed out that the bottle shot was of the Sauvignon Blanc, I thought I had drank the Sémillon. I guess I don't like their Sauvignon Blanc either. It shows a nutty, oxidative character with yellow citrus fruit and a touch of an herbal note. There's good acidity here and the mouthfeel has a certain creaminess to it, but I'm just not enamored to the flavor profile. B-.
