No debate that this is a very successful vintage for PYCM. Based on my experiences of 2015 and 2018 from the domaine, they really know how to manage warm vintages and seem to perform really well with ore ‘stuffing’…not sure what the technical term is.
This bottle is exhilarating and so balanced. Full of power and real energy. Intense but in a balanced and delightful way. On the palate. Citrus. Lime. It’s shed some of the PYCM intensity that can mask the terroir in early years. An inviting soft mouth feel which only comes with time with pycm based on my experience. Linear and precise. Generous white stoned fruit. No signs of heat of vintage in terms of flab or roundness. This is an absolute triumph.
I have followed this wine over the last 6 years. It’s aged very gracefully and just added a touch of roundness on the palate. The flavour profile has tightened up ever so slightly to be less tropical.

An absolutely delicious stage of a great wine, by a great wine maker, on a beautiful vintage. My wife and I are enjoying this gem sip by sip. Toasted bread, ever so slight bit of coffee bean, nutmeg in a generous rendering of honey, almond, citrus, green apple all kept together by a healthy and energetic mineral tannin. Malo fermentation is masterfully executed finding just right balance in order to keep the freshness, lifting the whole wine with all its qualities bringing its back end to a beautiful rainbow. Cheers,

Had this wine more than half a dozen times. I am just a little concerned the 2009 is fading. I am a huge fan of PYC and Caillerets for sure is one of his famous great wines. But this 2009 did not have the wow factor any more neither the instant recognition of the typical PYC brilliance. Compared to the formidable Les Perrieres 2009, let alone the Chevalier or Batard, this Caillerets is no match. It makes one wonder whether this 2009 is indeed past its peak. Nice wine, truly pleasurable, but lacking the greatness of PYC.

The Chassagne Montrachet Les Caillerets is one of my favourite cuvees from PYCM, it offers brilliant minerality that often resembles Chevalier Montrachet. Tasted blind – Reductive, elegant. Creamy white tree fruits, good texture. The minerality resembles Chevalier Montrachet, perhaps a tad less powerful / exquisite, but still terrific. Bernard Moreau? Corton Charlemagne? 2010? (91/100)

Amazing what PYCM can do in warm vintages. Stunning tonight. And pre-2011 PYCM just hits different. ✨
