  • In a word: juicy. High-toned, bright, piercing, tart (but not too tart), and 12.5% abv to boot -- with rich foods this is the ticket. Not terribly dissimilar to a high quality cru Beaujolais.

  • A cracking wine full of pebbly/prickly blue and black fruit, olives, animal fur and smoky, meaty flavors. Pure and expressive, this is texbook Syrah from the Northern Rhone that I like right here and right now. I wonder how it will age but there really is no reason to wait if you like the vibrancy and excitement of the young fruit.

  • plastic cork; deep bright purple, definitively Rhone with sweet violets, almost a grape-confectionary nose that's not unpleasant at all!, white pepper, smells juicy, fruits would be plum, grape, some orange peel even; very smooth in the mouth - almost silken - but with grainy tannins at the front of the mouth from the mid-palate, plenty of those florals and a touch of vanilla and almost aromatic-vanilla-sandalwood-wood, quite unusual in a way (lifted aromatics and very smooth). Enjoyable. It's smooth on the palate (not high acidity and an almost silky texture) and yet it's not offensively smooth, this is very good actually for a drink now easy style, not complex but enough interest. This is an easy, drink now style of Syrah rather than a tannic wine for ageing (vin-de-garde), and it's well done for that style.

  • Definitely uncomplicated as said before but so enjoyable. On the first night there was the most obvious raspberry core of flavor I've experienced. Plus, aromas of flowers. A considerable amount of weight is taken on as it gets air so I would advise letting it sit. Only after doing so did it take on more of a Crozes-Hermitage profile.

  • Captivating, fragrant nose of dark berries, a whiff of farmyard, spices - yes, young, vibrant Northern Rhone Syrah. The fruit is a tad bitter and dusty. Very light and fresh on the palate with energetic and spicy fruit. A good dose of pepper here. Lacks a bit of weight on the mid-palate initially, but the wine may gain weight with air. Lovely, authentic, not-very-complicated wine. Have 2/3 of bottle left for tonight.

(Dard & Ribo Crozes-Hermitage C’est le Printemps, Northern Rhône) This is one of the most drinkable, delicious red wines I’ve had all year, with smooth, sweet cherry, plum, and raspberry fruit and a vibrant profile. A hint of Syrah pepperiness adds seriousness. A natural wine that isn’t at all hard to get. Hot Picks
