Next to the Roilette Tardive, and they've developed in a very similar way - the fruit is juicy and crunchy and fresh as a daisy. That's even more of a surprise on this bottle than it was on the Tardive though, because on release this was gamy and funky and earthy and now there's none of that; the primary fruit is front and center. It does seem to have another layer of stuffing, though, along with some thick tannin that doesn't dry out the wine all that much but does give it a more challenging, grittier texture.

Really bewitching nose, meaty, deep and mysterious, makes one want to dive into the glass. Fantastic also on the palate, seamless, great depth and complexity, and not overdone like some tete de cuvees out there. Not obviously Beaujolais perhaps, hinting stylistically at Rhone, but great wine. Leftovers from day 3 had a definitely bretty finish, which I couldn't taste the first day - but maybe it contributed to the complexity in a good way.

A monster gamay and decanting for a few hours really helped to open up. Structured complex prefumed, what a beauty.

A bit disappointing given the price.

Great wine. Better in the 2-3 days after the first tasting.
