Interesting contrast to the last bottle. Consistent from opening to finish. Beautiful and nicely balanced with a lengthy finish. Where the previous bottle was dominated by the minerality, here it is present but definitly in the background behind beautiful lemon and pear flavors. This bottle also had some hints of smoke. Very nice.

Impromptu Dinner w/Friends (Pa Lian Burmese, Wheaton, IL): Opens with aromas of nuts and lemon with a pronounced mineral overtone. The palate follows the bouquet with more citrus and mineral than nuts but all elemnts are there. Balanced; lingering finish. 92-93 pts.

Second Sunday Group: 2008 Oregon Pinot: Served blind to the group. Apple and lemon notes. Medium-bodied and rather bright, with pear, lemon and mineral flavors. I really enjoyed this, though much of the group did not think this was Meursault, which led to a discussion of what Meursault, Puligny and Chassagne used to/ought to taste like. I found that very educational as my experiences with white Burgundy are much more recent and so what I think these wines ought to taste like differs a bit from them.

Terrific chard. Dominated by mineral flavors. Also some apple and perhaps hints of citrus. Medium length finish. Very pretty.
