  • Final bottle from a half case purchased at the estate in 2010. Identical to my previous note. Completely ready.

  • There is nothing nicer than finding bottles in your cellar which you had forgotten! I thought that I had drunk all six bottles from my half case, but last weekend I discovered that I still have two bottles left. It's fully mature now, with exemplary if relatively discreet aromatics (grapefruit, earth, spices) and a fine balance between richness and freshness. Both the terroir and the signature of the winemaker are clearly recognisable. Lovely wine.

  • Great Riesling GG from one of the best parcels of Rheingau! Peak drinking now. The wine has a lot of power, nice yellow stone fruit aromas, slight sweetness, which is very well balanced with its minerality and acidity.
We had it with a salmon poke bowl - unusual combination, but worked a treat.
Perfect cork, perfect bottle, still lots of life in it, but superb to drink now.

  • From 75cl, good cork discoloured 1cm from end, with thick coating of fine Weinstein crystals. Searing minerality on opening, like sniffing sharp crystals(?!) followed with a hint of the richness to come. Salty-bitter-mineral entry; refined, light palate with typical Hölle rich fruit, less pineapple and more acid apricot than I expected; beautiful architectural finish, the texture is that of pure spring water alternating with wild minerality, a big picture: huge spaces, high timbering, long, vibrant... Great wine, if not quite "Great Wine". 92-93P

  • From 75cl, perfect cork with thick Weinstein crust. Darkening gold colour, super mature Riesling scent as previously noted. Thick-textured, chewy pineapple palate. This is, alas, just past peak maturity and I advise drinking up; there is however just enough acid balance still there to make it a memorable warm-year Hölle. 89-90P
